Ekuhlengeni Psychiatric Hospital is a 700-bed psychiatric hospital in Umbogintwini, Amanzimtoti, in the eThekwini health district. Takes mental health care users from across KwaZulu-Natal. Established in January 1975 by the Life Care Centre and taken over by the Department of Health in 2006. It provides treatment, care and rehabilitation for mental health care users with psychotic, mood and personality disorders and mild to moderate intellectual disability. It has 965 gazetted beds and 700 useable beds.
